Working with Disruptive Adolescents (S15)

A one week course to support professionals from different backgrounds in their work with challenging adolescents.

Course aims

• Explore the challenges and psychodynamics of working with adolescents and their families.

• Think about the developmental stage of adolescence with the major internal and external changes involved.

• Understand the anxieties that can be aroused in yourself, clients and colleagues when working with disruptive adolescents.

• To raise awareness of the role cultural and ethnicity issues can play in work with adolescents.

• To consider the most relevant and appropriate ways of engaging with adolescents and their carers.

Is this course for you?

• Aimed at professionals in various roles and from wide-ranging backgrounds who work directly with adolescents and their families or carers.

• You will have the opportunity to present accounts of your work experiences in small work discussion groups.

• There will be lectures on issues relevant to the work with adolescents.

• One film will be shown and discussed.

• There will be a large group discussion to explore relevant themes further.

Time commitment
One week (Mon - Fri), full-time.
14 - 18 July 2008
