This course provides an introduction to the development of psychoanalytic theory. It will also help those who wish to deepen their existing knowledge of psychoanalytic theory.

• Understand the history and development of Freud’s thoughts of core psychoanalytic concepts.
• Explore contemporary developments through study of the work of Anna Freud, Klein, Fairbairn, Winnicot, Segal, Rosenfeld and Bion.
• Understand the application of psychoanalysis within a socio-cultural context.
Is this course for you?
• This course is also of particular interest to those who have a professional involvement in psychoanalytic work, such as psychotherapists and counsellors and wish to return to study theoretical issues.
• Members will be expected to undertake some reading before, and during, the course. They will be provided with a reading list.
