Family Therapy Supervision Course (M21)

This course is designed for qualified family/systemic psychotherapists to train as systemic/family therapy supervisors.

Course aims

• An intensive experience of live supervision of live supervision.

• Participants undertake live supervision in their agency throughout the two years.

• Opportunities to observe experienced supervisors at work.

• Theoretical seminars enable participants to develop a theoretical framework for their supervisory practice.

• Participants explore personal-professional themes as supervisors to develop self-reflexive supervisory practice.

• The course takes into account the wider societal context and cultural diversity, to work with differences of racialised identities, gender, class, sexual orientation, ethnicity and ability.

Is this course for you?

• You must have successfully completed a qualifying systemic/family therapy course.

• You must be registered or be eligible to register as a psychotherapist with the UKCP.

• You need a commitment from your agency that you are able to live supervise family therapy in the agency during the two year period of the course.

Time commitment
Two years, part-time. Second year - every three weeks. Participants need to supervise weekly in their agency throughout the training, and to visit their peers.

Assessment
• Leads to the award of the Tavistock Qualification in Family Therapy Supervision.
Graduates also eligible for recognition as an accredited Supervisor by the Association for Family Therapy.
