Working with Couples: A Short Course for Mental Health Professionals (D51)

This is a short course which offers mental health professionals a chance to pay attention to the couple relationship and consider how therapeutic work with couples is an important mode of intervention which is relevant in diverse clinical settings.

Course aims

• Develop an understanding of unconscious couple interaction.

• Recognise underlying couple difficulties in your clinical work.

• Develop the potential for working with couples.

Is this course for you?

• This course is for mental health professionals interested in working with couples using a psychoanalytic approach.

• Aimed at clinicians currently working with couples, or wishing to develop such work within their clinical service.

• Also for clinicians who feel under pressure to offer help to couples, but may not feel able to offer such work because of a lack of training in this area.

• Sessions include a mix of lecture/discussions, clinical presentations, video presentations and readings.
