Professional Doctorate in Consultation and the Organisation (D10D)

The Doctoral Programme aims to develop highly skilled, reflexive practitioners, able to offer consultation in a variety of contexts and carry out research to extend the knowledge base of this profession.

Course aims

• The doctoral programme gives emphasis to both professional practice and research:

Professional Practice programme

• Develop consultancy skills to a high level.

• Develop advance theoretical understanding.

• Build a portfolio of practice experience.

Research programme

• Develop research knowledge and skills.

• Conduct a research investigation

• Write a thesis - an original and scholarly contribution to organisational consultancy or to understanding of organisational dynamics.

Is this course for you?

• The academic standard of the Professional Doctorate is equivalent to a conventional PhD, but it also enables advanced and intensive learning to be rooted in professional practice.

• It is expected that the research undertaken will make a significant contribution to the field.

• Applicants must have achieved the MA in Consultation and the Organisation: psychoanalytic approaches (D10) which constitutes part one of the programme, or equivalent.

• Applicants must be engaged in appropriate work as an organisational consultant or a manager.

Time commitment
Tuesdays, weekly (year one), fortnightly (years two and three). At least one additional day is spent in private study. Remaining time will be devoted to consultative or managerial work.

Assessment

• Theoretical essay.

• Portfolio of Professional Practice containing a minimum of eight reports.

• Research proposal.

• Thesis.
