Are you wondering how to develop your potential? Are you a support worker? The NHS London is offering free places on a 10 week training course for unqualified support staff working with children, young people and their families in the voluntary, NHS, community, education and social care settings. Applications are particularly encouraged from those without formal education qualifications, and from black and minority ethnic groups.

• Learning about observation.
• Direct work with children, young people and families.
• Child and adolescent development.
• Working in a multi-cultural context
• Develop the theoretical framework needed to explore perspectives for working with individuals, couples, families, work groups and organisations.
Is this course for you?
This course is aimed at:
• Social Care Assistants, Community Support Workers, Learning Support Assistants, Learning Mentors, Nursery Nurses, Play Leaders, Youth Workers and Family Centre Assistants.
• Eligibility: Support workers who are employed within the London area and do not have professional or degree level qualifications. Employer’s permission to attend the course is also needed.
Time commitment
Three hours on a Monday for ten weeks, timing to be confirmed.
Funding
The course is free to successful applicants, but places are limited. Course fees and travel allowance are paid by NHS London.
