Suicidal and self-harming young people confront professionals with a complex set of demands and difficulties.
This course will explore the relational and developmental needs of suicidal young people and, through linking theory and practice, will develop participants’ capacities to assess and work with the risks and difficulties in working with these young people. A particular focus will be placed on the emotional experiences evoked in professionals and organisations through this work and understanding the stresses on the professional relationship.
This course is designed to provide a theoretical and practice-based understanding of the challenges of working with suicidal and self-harming young people and an opportunity to reflect on participants’ current practice concerns.

The course runs weekly on a Tuesday, 4 - 7pm.
