January - May 2009
Fee: £450
Venue: Portman Clinic, London
The Portman Clinic is offering a short course taking place fortnightly on a Thursday evening during the spring term.
Its objective will be to explore all areas of concrete enactment and its place in severe psychopathology, in particular how psychoanalytic theory contributes to the deeper understanding of psychotic, violent and sexual behaviour in our patients.
The aim of the course is to help clinicians gain greater insight into their clinical work and demonstrate how this deeper understanding in the clinician can lead to a move from the concrete to more symbolic modes of thinking in the patient.
Teaching will involve lectures, video and clinical presentations. It is hoped that members will feel able to bring examples of their own work. It is open to all professionals involved in work with patients who expose the clinician to severe psychopathology.
