Venue: Tavistock Centre, London
The Government has placed schools at the centre of the future delivery of community child and adolescent mental health provision. This is in recognition of the impact that the child’s and the adolescent’s school experience has on their psychological and emotional well-being. It also recognises the increased accessibility to services this allows.
Counselling in educational settings has significantly developed alongside more input from child and adolescent mental health services. The Tavistock Clinic has, for many years, had an interest in thinking about mental health and counselling for young people in schools and the Clinic’s work has highlighted the complexities faced by professionals working in schools.
This series of workshops is specifically designed for school counsellors to support them in their role. The workshops will provide a reflective space and invite participants to explore the complexities of working with children with psychological and emotional needs.
These workshops are aimed at school counsellors and other professionals working in education in a counselling capacity.
Please note, new workshops are being planned for Autumn 2008 - please let us know if you would like to receive details and if you have any suggestions for topics to be covered.
