Commissioned Training for Teams and Services

Nurses and residential care workers have an important contribution to make in the promotion of mental health. Continuing professional development has a vital role to play in achieving this and enabling profes-sionals to lead clinically and with authority.

In addition, we believe that those who work in residential care and in the community undertake some of the most difficult tasks with some of the most disturbed clients, often with little training and support. The focus of our training is to help workers address the many psychological issues they are likely to face in their work with children, adolescents, families and adults and develop the psychotherapeutic skills needed for this work. Our programmes demonstrate the importance of this in supervision as well as in practice. This involves an understanding of the unconscious processes which are at work, and applying this under-standing to the workplace.
