We continue to build our reputation for producing innovative and influential research in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, family therapy, individual and group psychotherapy, organisational consultancy and working closely with the research departments of our university partners.
Some years ago, the NHS Review of Psychotherapy endorsed the value of psychotherapy and underlined the need for more research into the effectiveness of therapeutic treatments. We are developing more research aimed at examining the process and outcomes of therapeutic work. Current projects include research on the psychotherapeutic treatment of depression, both in children and adults and childhood sexual abuse. We also have projects on the role of social work in child mental health care, and a variety of studies of psychotherapy with adolescents.
