Our performance
Our performance is continually monitored and assessed by independent organisations. These organisations make sure we meet national standards and targets. As well as this we have our own internal standards and targets so we can be sure our services are safe and effective and you can be sure of getting the highest quality care.
How well are we doing?
We offer some of the safest and highest-quality services in the NHS.
Our clinical services are rated as ‘Excellent’ by the healthcare watchdog organisation the Healthcare Commission (now the Care Quality Commission). We are proud that we are one of only a handful of trusts to have received the highest award for our clinical services five years in a row.
Our safety record is impressive. We take risk management and safety of patients, staff and visitors to our sites very seriously.We have agreed policies and procedures for managing risk across all aspects of our service. These fully comply with national standards.
In 2006 we became a foundation trust. In order to become a foundation trust we were scrutinised very carefully and had to meet a number of very rigorous standards. Our success in becoming a foundation trust showed that we were performing at the highest level and we continue to do so. The Trust has never been in financial deficit and our financial management has been given a rating of ‘good’ by our watchdog organisation.
Many of our services are seen as best-practice examples of how services can and should be run.
We are growing
Over the past five years we have developed and expanded our services in response to local need. Becoming a membership organisation in 2006 has helped us to engage with our local communities to make sure this is the case. The success and quality of these services is reflected in the growth that we continue to experience.
The Trust has continued to promote fairness and equality across its services. We are very pleased, therefore, that the black and minority ethnic profiles of our patient and student populations closely mirror the very diverse populations we serve.
