The Young People's Consultation Service (YPCS)

The YPCS is a self-referral only service, based in the Adolescent Department at the Tavistock Centre, which offers up to 4 sessions of free (National Health Service), confidential counselling to young people between the ages of 16 and 30, who have a personal or emotional problem.*

The YPCS is open to young people regardless of class, culture, race, religious beliefs, sexuality and whether or not they are physically disabled.

YPCS staff are qualified and experienced professionals, some of whom are undertaking advanced training at the Tavistock Centre.

We offer up to 4 meetings of about an hour each, aimed at helping our clients to get a clearer idea of the problem or difficulty they may have. Consultation sessions may also include discussing how to go about getting further help where it seems appropriate.

We usually arrange appointments during normal office hours but we can sometimes organize early morning or early evening appointments. If you are a young person with a problem and would like to talk it over, please call:

The YPCS Administrator on 020 8938 2337 (between 10am and 5.30pm, Monday - Thursday) for more information and/or to arrange an appointment.

* Certain NHS conditions apply: Please have details of your GP's (doctor's) name and address when you call our Administrator, we do not need to contact your GP but we do need to check your eligibility.
