The Infant Mental Health Team, in addition to its community work provides a service known as the Under 5's Counselling Service. The service offers up to 5 interviews with a worker from a team of experienced professionals.
We see parents and babies or toddlers who are struggling with the ordinary problems of development, e.g. babies who cry, won't sleep or refuse to be weaned as well as older toddlers who refuse to be toilet trained. We also see families who are having a difficult time because of sibling rivalry, parental separation, bereavement in the family or any number of stress inducing factors which can have an effect on family relationships.
This is a wide spectrum service for anyone with a worry relating to their baby or little child, whether it is temporary or long standing, major or minor.
Appointments can be arranged without delay, especially where a baby is concerned.
