Wednesday, October 21, 2009
We have appointed Angela Greatley, the outgoing CEO at the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health as our new Chair.
Whilst at the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health Angela achieved a great deal. She oversaw a transformation in the way the Sainsbury Centre works, focusing all their efforts on the key issues of unemployment and criminal justice and made it a major force for change in these areas.
Angela Greatley joined Sainsbury Centre as director of policy in 2003 and became chief executive in 2004. She previously had a distinguished career in NHS management and at the King's Fund.
Angela Greatley has an impressive career in mental health policy and research. She will provide us with a Chair who understands the challenges associated with developing and delivering excellence in mental health services, and also the unique contribution we make to mental health promotion. We are delighted Angela will be joining us.
Angela Greatley said that she is delighted to have the opportunity to take up the position of Trust Chair. ‘It has never been more important to provide good care for people with a range of mental health problems. The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust has a reputation for excellent care combined with high quality training and research providing a service to the local community as well as more widely across London and nationally. I look forward to playing my part in maintaining and improving those services.’
