'Named and famed' for our performance

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

NHS Chief Executive, David Nicholson, and Care Quality Commission Chairman, Barbara Young, have "named and famed" NHS trusts that have performed strongly in the NHS performance ratings.

They highlighted our achievements and congratulated us on our outstanding performance. The Care Quality Commission, an independent watchdog responsible for annually assessing the performance of all trusts, recognised that our services were consistently shown to be among the best in the country

We were rated ‘excellent’ for quality of services for the fourth year in a row. And for the first time we were also rated 'excellent' for our financial management. This category has gone from “Fair” to “Excellent” over the past four years, since becoming a foundation trust.

Barbara Young said: "We want to acknowledge publicly the achievements of these trusts and thank them for all they have done on behalf of patients.

Our Chief Executive, Dr Matthew Patrick, was delighted with the announcement. “This achievement highlights the commitment of our dedicated team of staff and it is great that they have been recognised at such a high level.”

Dr Sally Hodges, the Trust’s Communications and PPI Lead, added “To do well, your trust must perform strongly across a wide range of standards that cover what really matters to patients and these results show that we put patients first.”
