Electronic Journal FAQs

FAQs

What is the Journals Collection and how do I access it?
To find out, view the quick presentation 'How to Access the Journals Collection'.

Do I need a password to access the electronic journals?
You will require an Athens username and password to access most of our electronic resources - look for the Athens link when you need to log in.

You can register for an Athens account in the Library, please ask a member of staff for a self registration username and password. If you are a Regional student and need an Athens account please email the library.

Some resources require a separate username and password. Please contact the library for the relevant password stating your name and the library id number on the back of your library card.

How do I download and print a full-text article?

Many full-text electronic resources can be downloaded in the form of an Acrobat PDF file, which can then be read off-line or printed out for easier reading.

To view or print out a PDF document, you must have a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. As PDF files are widely used on the Internet, it is worthwhile installing Adobe Acrobat Reader. Wherever possible, please use version 7 or above.

If you do not have a copy, you can download the latest version for free from the Adobe website.

Once you have installed Adobe the full-text article will open automatically when you click on the link to the PDF file.

If you wish to print out the article you must use the print icon within Acrobat Reader rather than the icon on your browser.
