The psychologists appearing in the list below all qualified originally as clinical and/or educational psychologists and are all chartered psychologists. To do this they will have studied to postgraduate level for up to 6 years in order to obtain their initial professional qualification, though many have studied much longer than this to obtain further specialist qualifications in their particular field of work (eg psychoanalytic psychotherapy, systemic psychotherapy). Clinical psychologists work as clinicians and psychotherapists in all the departments and clinics of The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, and are complemented in the Child and Family Directorate by a number of educational psychologists who have all been qualified teachers and have special expertise in learning and education difficulties. As well as working as clinicians and therapists, the psychologists within the Trust are actively engaged in training and research, many also offer consultation to organisations, primarily in the public sector, and several of them have additional appointments at the University of Essex.
