Supervision and Consultation in Nursing: Challenges and dilemmas

Friday 20 June 2008
Fee: £140
Venue: Tavistock Centre

Nurses are expected to enter into supervisory/consultative relationships with peers and colleagues from within and external to their service. Nursing policy has promoted this in the past (DoH 1993) and more recently this has been re-iterated in numerous policy documents (DoH 2004, 2005). However, this is by no means  a straightforward process. It requires knowledgeable, capable practitioners to offer these resources and informed nurses to make use of such reflective spaces. It also requires commitment of time and money by management in a cash-strapped environment.

This conference will explore the complexities of this relationship from both the position of provider and user, thinking about different models of supervision and consultation and the therapeutic challenges and dilemmas that arise.
