Use the course listing as a starting point to find the right course for you.
You might work in primary care, schools, social services or a criminal justice setting, and want to understand more about mental health issues at work. If you are interested in becoming a mental health worker, for example, a primary mental health worker with children and adolescents, or in developing skills for primary care adult or forensic mental health work, you could start by looking for relevant headings below e.g. Child And Adolescent Mental Health or Adult Mental Health. You will also be directed to courses and programmes, which offer continuing professional development (CPD) in these areas.
If you are interested in becoming a child and adolescent psychotherapist, you would be directed to start looking at the following course: Doctorate Clinical Training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (M80). You would also discover you need to complete either the MA or Postgraduate Diploma in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies, or Infant Mental Health, as one of the requirements before you can apply for the clinical training.
Are you interested in specialist psychotherapy training, such as Adult, Forensic or Systemic Psychotherapy?
You can look at the Training in Family and Systemic Approaches section to find the title of the course and the requirements for starting on such a programme. In some cases there is a pre-clinical course requirement, and for others you will need particular levels of academic qualification and some specific work experience.
Are you looking for another mental health professional training course?
You might want to become an Educational or Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker, Specialist Psychiatrist or Organisational Consultant. Again, use the course listing on the left to find the relevant section quickly.
If you already work in adult mental health, child and adolescent mental health or you are already a social care or mental health professional, you might be best to start by looking for a topic, which labels your profession so you can find courses which might enhance your skills and qualifications.
