Trust Performance

HCC Declaration

The Tavistock and Portman Foundation NHS Trust is  pleased to declare full compliance with the Healthcare Commission’s core standards for April 2007 to March 2008.  This follows a rigorous process of self-assessment of performance against the standards.

The core standards form a key component of the Healthcare Commission’s annual health check in which all NHS trusts are required to participate.  The standards outline the key quality and safety issues which are a priority for patients, the public, clinicians and healthcare managers.  Performance against the standards is measured through a variety of means, utilising both internal and external monitoring and assurance processes.  The standards fall into seven categories:

  • Safety
  • Clinical and cost effectiveness
  • Governance
  • Patient focus
  • Accessible and responsive care
  • Care environment and amenities
  • Public health

We are pleased to have received comments from our Board of Governors and the   Patient and Public Involvement Forum, and from Camden Health Scrutiny Committees.  These comments will  guide the Trust’s efforts to continue to improve our services and enable the Trust to maintain its performance in the coming years.

In October, the Healthcare Commission will give hospitals a performance rating which will indicate whether services within that hospital are excellent, good, fair or weak.  Last year, the Tavistock and Portman was rated  “excellent” for quality of services and “good” for use of resources.
