Equality and Diversity

Equality and Diversity in The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust

Mental health depends to substantial degree on a sense of belonging and being accepted. Equity of access to services depends on active engagements with local communities. The Trust is committed to ensuring that its services reach out to the socially disadvantaged and those who experience discrimination.

The Trust is committed to ensuring that it employs a workforce that is representative of the population that it serves. It strives to implement all elements of the NHS initiative “Positively Diverse”. It recognises that people from different backgrounds bring fresh ideas and perceptions. As an Equal Opportunities employer, the Trust has made positive strides towards employing a skilled and accredited clinical and non-clinical workforce.

The Trust continues to be engaged in creative responses to the complex issues of access and exclusion.

The Trust will continue to:

  • Improve client services and customer care
  • Reflect changes in society and personal expectations
  • Comply with legislation
  • Keep up with best practice
  • Ensure all training engages with issues of diversity
  • Reflect upon organisational ethics and values
