Experience
- Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the Adolescent Department of the Tavistock Clinic 1991 to 2003. Chair of the Department 1991 to 2000
- Experience of NHS management through membership of the Management Committee of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust during this time (the main governing committee of the trust at that time)
- Since retirement from the NHS in 2003 working in private psychoanalytic practice and teaching in various organisations including:
- Continuing professional development seminars at the Tavistock Clinic one half day per week
- Writing and working both on theoretical psychoanalytic issues and on how to apply these issues to broader settings within mental health, especially in the mental health of adolescents and in particular within the area of self harm and suicidal risk
- Work especially in relation to NHS activities has been underpinned by a commitment to a holistic, balanced and compassionate approach to patient treatment

- MB, BS; (Qualified in Medicine St Bartholomew’s Hospital)
- MRCP (Member of the Royal College of Physicians)
- FRCPsych (Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists)
- GMC Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Fellow of the Institute of Psychoanalysis London (Training Analyst in Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychoanalysis)
